The day the Earth Stood Still

1951, Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Sam Jaffe, Francis Bavier.

With the new version available soon I decided to watch the original one first. I may have actually seen it many years ago but do not remember. I don't normally get into old movies but this one was pretty cool. While I enjoy what can be accomplished with CG this movie kept me interested the entire time just with it's acting and the minimal sets available.

Older movies are better, imo. I spend a lot of time watching Turner Classic Movies. I think I've seen all three previous movies of what became "You've Got Mail" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. I liked the first one. In fact with most remakes, I like the original better.

Yeah this movie is a trip! The graphics are ofcourse in the 50's but just the concept is advanced. Makes you wonder if today in 09 now what would happen if the earth stood still. I would be pissed because I could'nt leave a blog comment for you Scott.
